This Lobster, as you may have noticed is blue! Do you know why this lobster is so "cool"? He's not a Muddy Waters fan if that's what came to mind! Next guess! Water too cold? Well maybe but we tried the "Sweaters for Lobsters" drive at the local knitteries and the few we did get as a joke didn't last so long against the lobster claws....
Hint: He's one in 3-5 million!
Answer: Nightcrawler, is a MUTANT!!! One in 3-5 million american lobsters develops a gene mutation that ends up creating too much of a very special protein related to shell coloration! You're looking at a very special guy! This one's not going to end up on the table at some fancy restaurant! He'd probably be more at home at Patrick Stewart's....aherm....Charles Xavier's school for the gifted.
genetic mutations can create some of the most amazing things but also, vice versa. :)
